I recently picked up a bottle of Josh Cellars Rosé, expecting something light, maybe a little sweet — the typical profile we’ve all come to expect from most Rosés. But this one? Definitely took a different route.
What sets Josh Cellars Rosé apart is its dryness. It leans far away from the super-sweet, candy-flavored wines that tend to dominate the pink wine aisle. Instead, it’s crisp, clean, and a little restrained. Think strawberry and white peach with a subtle citrus finish.
That dryness is honestly what makes it stand out — in both good and not-so-good ways. If you're looking for a Rosé to sip poolside that tastes like pink lemonade with a twist, this probably won’t hit the spot. But if you're in the mood for something more subdued and food-friendly, it could surprise you. It feels like the kind of wine that would do well on a patio with a cheese board or a light seafood dish, rather than a casual glass on its own.
If you're curious to try a Rosé that doesn’t follow the usual sweet script, this one’s worth a pour.
- Danielle
😝 Taste 3.5/5 - crisp, and clean
🥘Vibe 3/5 - low-key, good for conversation over a meal
💸Value 5/5 - low-cost and good taste
🍇Dryness 4/5 - medium-dry, not sweet
👀Label Coolness 2/5 - simple design. "not pretty"
Final Verdict:❗Caution: Not Your Typical Rosé
Absolutely love this honest take, Danielle! It’s refreshing (just like the wine!) to hear about a Rosé that breaks the mold. I’m all for exploring something a bit drier and more food-friendly sounds like a great pick for a cozy dinner or a classy cheese board moment. Appreciate the heads-up that it’s not your typical sweet sip. Cheers to trying new things and sharing the realness!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate a drier style Rose' and have tried this one before and I agree with your take on it!
ReplyDeleteThere are better options out there, but this one is mostly known for its visibility... it's marketed well along with the rest of the Josh wine portfolio.
